About Michael . . .

“He who has been forgiven much loves much,” this is a scripture that truly describes Michael’s life and ministry. Born and raised in Clearwater, Florida, Michael started playing guitar around the age of ten and later studied classical guitar with Joseph Lazarro, a protégée of Andre Segovia. Michael came to know the Lord at a young age during the “Jesus People” movement of the early 70’s. During his senior year in high school Michael was discovered and began touring with Young American Showcase.

After knowing success for several years, his circumstances changed. Michael’s life became filled with harsh realities and sorrows which began to derail his dreams of stardom in the music industry. During this time, an acquaintance introduced him to cocaine, and it quickly overtook all else in his life. After a few years of being a prodigal and running from the Lord, Michael decided to end it all in order to stop the pain, and decided to kill himself. In what he thought were his final conscious moments, he called out to God, saying “only you can save me now.” To Michael’s surprise, he awoke in the morning……surrounded by the glory of the Lord’s presence and was instantly set free from his drug addiction. During this time of cleansing and dying to self, God touched Michael and re-formed him into a vessel for His own use.

When Michael returned to the world of music, his focus and his life had changed. In the early 80’s the way opened for him to travel and minister with Mylon Lefevre and Broken Heart . Eventually, he met and married the love of his life, Lillian, and for a time they traveled with the band, Dubeel, playing and ministering in bars and clubs all over the East coast and Canada, sharing the gospel and the love of Jesus in their songs and with their lives. Michael saw many lives transformed – just as his had been – by the unexpected presence of God in what most people would consider the most unlikely of places. He still recalls those times as some of the most satisfying in his walk with Christ.

Michael and Lillian eventually moved to Nashville, where Michael began working in ministry with Don Finto at Belmont Church, opening the Common Ground Coffee House and then was offered an opportunity to tour with the Doro Pesch Band in Europe. He has been in full time ministry for the last 26 years and has toured and played with many well known Christian and secular bands. In recent years he traveled and ministered with Jason Upton, and most recently he has been playing, touring and recording with Rick Pino and Fire Rain ministries. He also travels and ministers in music and the Word with his own team of skilled ministers and musicians, sharing his bold and loving message all over the US and abroad.

Michael is a fiery messenger, who walks in the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. His experience as a youth pastor, worship leader, accomplished musician, producer and itinerant speaker allows him to cross age barriers as he ministers out of the heart of the Father from a deep well of love, power and revelation. Michael’s heart and focus is to network Christians for a greater impact on the world, and to be a voice to awaken the church.

He and Lillian now reside in Margate, FL where they have a ministry called “The Network Center”.

Weeks of: March 25-31 and April 1 (Palm Sunday)-7, 2012

March Prayer Target: The PASSION OF JESUS CHRIST

April Prayer Target: VICTORY IN JESUS

Word for the Week: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.” I Peter 1:3-6

Meditation: REDEEMED from an empty way of life, from generational sin and sins – with the “precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect; chosen from before the foundation of the world, but revealed in these last times for your sake.” I Peter 1:20

Prayer: REEDEMER! LORD! CHRIST! DEFEATER of Hell, Sin and Death; CONQUEROR and KING: OUR BELOVED… HE LIVES! And, He will come again: ALLELULIA, ALLELULIA, ALLELULIA; WORTHY IS THE LAMB! “Even so, Come, Lord Jesus.” Amen!

CHURCHES AND PASTORS – May all who love Him live fully in His finished work!

-“And they commanded the people saying, ‘When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God and the priests the Levites bearing it, then you shall remove from your place and GO AFTER IT. . . . for you have not passed this way before..” Joshua 3:3,4c

-“And the Lord said to Joshua, “This day will I begin to magnify you in the sight of all Israel.” Joshua 3:7

Pastors. PRAISE HIM for pastors who are seeking the Lord, speaking the Truth, and leading their congregations forth. Declare that this will be the day that pastors and churches “Go After It,” in the sense that we put all else aside and follow the Lord wholeheartedly and in fullness of faith. The children of Israel had been in the wilderness for forty years, but there was a day that they were to leave the wilderness and move into the promised territory. Declare that pastors will have the guidance and strength they need to lead forth in this new day in unity with one another and in the power of His might. That God will powerfully use them in the days ahead and that they will increase in all their ways!

Congregations. Pray that congregations will sense a “new day” has come wherein the Lord is leading us forth to His victory, His fullness, His purposes, His glory in the land He has prepared. Declare that we are to leave the old—the wilderness wanderings, the sin, the murmurings—and with full repentance and obedience, and fresh faith, walk in His fullness, marching toward a victory in His Name and under His banner greater than we have imagined. Pray for resurrection power to fall upon the pastors and churches during this season.

Repentance is a gift of God! This Lenten season continue to examine your hearts. Pray for His mercy and help to repent and turn from ways that displease Him and hinder the Holy Spirit from moving in our lives, families and churches. When we turn to Him with all our hearts, we will know revival unto reformation.

PRAISE REPORT FROM REPOSSESS. Over 600 kids were at the Repossess youth conference held March 16 & 17th. They were given training, discipled and participated in community outreaches on Saturday afternoon. Saturday night 2,000 kids attended the outreach event with 270 answering a very serious call to follow Jesus– first time salvations. They were individually prayed for and contact information obtained. There’s something stirring in the youth about taking their city for Jesus- it’s happening at all ages!!! So awesome to hear 2,000 youth crying out “Jesus Be the Center”!! He is moving!!! Repossess is a non-denominational, city-wide youth movement. Pray that each of those who accepted Christ will be nurtured, grow and become vibrant, strong Christians.

-”For the Lord your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until you were passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red Sea . . . that ALL the people of the earth might know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty: that you might fear the Lord your God forever.” Joshua 4:23a,24

GOVERNMENT – JESUS IS LORD! –the government is on His shoulders!

STATE GOVERNMENT –

-“The Lord said unto Joshua, ‘Get up! Why are you lying on your face? Israel has sinned and they have also transgressed my covenant . . . they have even taken of the accursed thing and have also stolen.” Joshua 7:10,11

-“And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be dismayed: take all the people of war with you and arise and go.” Joshua 8:1

2012 Special Session of the Legislature. Pray that there will be breakthrough of the budget issues that are holding up the closing of the 2012 legislative cycle. This is often the time that tempers flare and emotions race, and the Governor is even displaying her anger in the press. Pray that God will over-rule with peace, especially through the godly legislators who are in the thick of the budget battle. Pray for their stamina, resilience, and wisdom to know when to give and when to stay with resolve. Legislative members are a composite of all residents in the state, so let us not be critical, but pray for God to show forth His wisdom in the midst of contention and clamor. Continue to pray that the Legislature will yet during the 30-day special session pass a budget that represents balance and fiscal responsibility.

Christian Legislators. CONTINUE to praise Him for each and every born-again Christian who is serving in the Legislature. Pray that after the election this fall many more Christians will be members. Pray for them to be the wisest, strongest and most-valued members of the Legislature as they receive favor from God and man. Continue to pray for their spiritual and emotional strength – supernaturally from God — and protection for their families. Pray for them to have the resources and wisdom needed to engage in effective and successful re-election or election campaigns.

Referendum 74 / Pray for enough signatures on Referendum 74 before the June deadline. The petitions are now available for signature. To effect the cancellation of the same sex marriage law passed by the Legislature at least 121,000 valid signatures must be delivered to the Secretary of State NO LATER THAN JUNE 6th. The Same Sex Marriage Law WILL NOT GO INTO EFFECT if enough signatures are submitted by the required date. Pray for at least 150,000 signatures so there will be no question that there is strong support to have the Referendum on the ballot in November. It will take a massive effort to overturn this law. Pray that regional petition centers will be established to assist with distributing petitions for signature and collecting them once signed.

Initiative 1192. Pray for enough signatures on I-1192 so that the initiative can be placed on the ballot this fall to define marriage in Washington state as between one man and one woman. This too is critical! Petitions have been available since January and must be submitted by July 6th with at least 300,000 valid signatures. Initiative 1192 is an affirmative statement and is your chance to say “yes” to marriage between one man and one woman.

No Confusion. The enemy would seek to confuse voters by having both measures on the fall ballot – but pray that does not happen. Pray that Christians will understand the importance of both and consider that they will have two opportunities to support marriage in our state. Pray that a great majority of voters will support traditional marriage and that Washington state will send a strong message throughout this nation that God is at work in our midst! That this is a state that has turned from their wicked ways, repented, and is following Him. Let this be the time when God is exalted in Washington State of Christ!

Sign both petitions to protect and preserve marriage. When they are on the ballot in the fall, vote for each as follows:

ü Vote No on Referendum 74 to reject the recent same sex marriage law.

ü Vote Yes on Initiative 1192 to reaffirm that marriage is only between one man and one woman.

Pray for the leaders who are working to ensure this law does not go into effect, as much work must be done in a short period of time – with wisdom – with unity – and the spirit of cooperation.

Pray for resources to help continue to fund these efforts and the ad campaigns being developed will be powerfully effective.

Pray for the protection of each and every person who seeks to acquire signatures on the petitions, e.g., those who stand in front of stores with them.

Pray for churches to take this matter very seriously and respond with action and an overwhelming number of signatures across this state. That they will not be afraid of their public image or the IRS. That they will strongly encourage their congregants/parishioners to become registered voters and to vote, as well as sign the referendum.

Pray that Washington state will come into alignment with the plans and purposes, will and Word of God.

“Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom you fight.” Joshua 10:25 (after the battle of the 5 kings)

“Silence in the face of evil, is evil itself. God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.” - Dietrich Boenhoeffer

National and Statewide Candidates – Fall Election. The national and state elections are less than 34 weeks away—so we must pray with strong intercessions for our nation to return to God. Great spiritual warfare is being fought to shatter the very foundations of this nation and turn it away from God. God’s people must assume their civic responsibilities and participate, as God leads, in this election, praying for God’s destiny in the U.S. to be fulfilled.

Pray for God’s will in selecting candidates who will engage in the many races upcoming in this state—particularly the four statewide positions–the Governor, the Attorney General, the State Auditor, the Secretary of State—which have never been up for re-election at the same time without incumbents, and now one opening in Congress in the 6th Congressional District seat being vacated by Norm Dicks. God is at work in these five vacancies–the number of grace–let us pray for strength, wisdom and understanding to fill these positions with the candidates of God’s choosing.

Praise Him for every candidate who knows the name of Christ and who will take their stand in the day of battle. Pray for courage and strength for those who have decided to be candidates. That Washington state will elect righteous, godly individuals throughout all levels of government. Pray that Christians will be in unity in this election. Pray for discernment and understanding that we will know who the righteous candidates are.

-“For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that He might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favor . . . .” Joshua 11:20 – “And He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship.” Exodus 35:31

    COUNTY/CITY/TOWN GOVERNMENTS

-“Take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law . . . to love the Lord your God and to walk in all His ways and to keep His commandments and to cleave unto Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Joshua 22:5

City/Town Governments in Thurston County: Bucoda, Lacey, Olympia, Rainier, Tenino, Tumwater and Yelm. Pray for a spirit of cooperation between the churches and our local governmental bodies, that the churches will be seen as those who are working for the best interests of our cities and county. Pray for divine connections to be forged and for walls of separation to break down. Pray that our cities and towns can be places of beauty, commerce and peaceable habitations. Pray for a resurrection of godliness in our cities and towns from seeds of righteousness that have long been sown by the churches and those who attend.

“This day we perceive that the Lord is among us, because you have not committed this trespass against the Lord.” Joshua 22:31

FAMILIES/SOCIAL SERVICES/HEALTH – Jesus broke the power of Satan and set the captives free!

-“Then said Pilate unto Him, ‘Do you not hear how many things they witness against You? And He answered him not a word; insomuch that the governor marveled greatly.” Matthew 27:14

Families/Children. Pray that families who speak against our Lord Jesus Christ and who take His Name in vain, will be given a new way of thinking and a new life in Him–the very One Whom they have despised and cursed. Precious Name – O how sweet, Hope of earth and Joy of Heaven. Pray for the Spirit of God to convict them of sin and for a turning to repentance unto righteousness. Then their homes and families will be places of comfort, warmth, love and happiness, as God intended. Pray for God’s destiny to be fulfilled in them.

Christian Families. Pray that Christian families will experience the promises of God in greater measure and that their faith will continually increase. Pray for them to have discernment about how to teach their children and how to bless one another. Pray for unsaved loved ones to come into His Kingdom this year and that breaches will be healed. Thank Him for Christian families who are raising their children in the fear of the Lord. Pray for those who want to add children to their family that the doors would be open to them, as God wills.

Foster Children/Adoptions. Pray for foster children under the care of the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) to find the best of homes, the right family match for them, and that these children will be blessed and become responsible adults, not limited by their past. Pray that many will be adopted by the wonderful, loving Christian homes they are placed in. Pray for more Christian families to find a way to open their homes to these children. Pray that those administering the programs at DSHS will do so with true concern for the welfare of the children.

Abortion. From Families/Socials Services/Health Transformation Team – Pray for God’s heart to be released to the hurting people in our churches. Pray for an increase in mentoring for them. Lowering the abortion rate or stopping abortion is the top prayer objective for this sphere in 2012.

40 Days for Life. “Forty Days for Life” started on February 22 and will continue to April 1, Palm Sunday. Pray for life to prevail and God’s Spirit to hover over those who enter abortion clinics/facilities as customers or employees. Twenty-one clinics have closed at 40-Day locations since it began. So far this campaign, almost 400 babies have been saved (worldwide). The Olympia team is at Planned Parenthood, 402 Legion Way, Suite 201, Olympia, from 8 AM to 8 PM during this campaign. Give them an encouraging honk if you drive by and pray for their protection and courage. It’s not an easy thing to do!

-“Jesus then said to them, ‘Have no fear. Go take the message to My brothers to leave for Galilee; and they shall see Me there.’” Matthew 28:10

LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES/MILITARY/FIREFIGHTERS

“Has not the Lord God of Israel commanded saying, ‘Go and . . I will deliver him into your hand.’” Judges 4:6b,7b

Pray God will protect our law enforcement officers, and that those who disobey the law will be delivered into their hands. That they will see His protection and know that God is working on their behalf. Let the godly officers be those who influence for good and set the example of serving with honor and integrity. Let them be the bravest and most courageous and strong encouragers to the others.

Prayer points from this Transformation Team:

Pray God will grant that the law of the land will return to honoring military and civil service. That chaplains could again pray in the Name of Jesus and be protected from violating their consciences. That our military personnel will not come under Sharia law in the countries where they are serving.

Pray for those returning from military service with post-traumatic stress syndrome – healing in the Name of Christ.

Pray a standard is lifted; that God is not marginalized in our military, law enforcement and other government agencies.

Pray for President Obama as Commander in Chief and that he will be prevented from instituting further godless mandates that lower morale and increase chaos and all manner of confusion.

-“They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera . . . . Let Your enemies perish, O Lord: but let them who love You be as the sun when it goes forth in its might.” Judges 5:20,31

Jail Ministries. Praise God for those who are serving in jail ministries and for the results they are seeing! Pray that many more will be saved as a result of this ministry and that those serving will be greatly encouraged. Pray for reinforcements to come along side them.

Pray for the Thurston County Police Athletic League. Their mission is to provide youth, family, and community members with a comprehensive human service venue that will effectively address very important issues of juvenile delinquency, truancy, teen pregnancy, negative effects of drugs, alcohol, gangs, violence, and vandalism, early childhood learning care needs, education, tutoring, and mentoring, along with quality recreation through sports and athletics. These efforts will derive from numerous collaborative partnerships throughout Thurston County and the surrounding areas. Pray that they will be effective in their efforts. Though not a Christian organization, they are working to serve a group that vitally needs their outreach. Several church youth pastors are coordinating with them.

EDUCATION

“For the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed.” I Samuel 2:3b

-“He repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down.” I Kings 18:30

Public Schools. Pray for the public schools to “repair the altars” and to build up the education of children based on the foundation of Biblical scholarship. Pray that they return to the mission of education as understood by our forefathers with a Biblical worldview. Pray that the humanistic mindset that is in the educational system will be brought down. We know only God can do this, but we know He can!

School Superintendent Searches. This is the time for school districts to undertake the search to find people to succeed leaders who are retiring. The position of Superintendent of the school district is important for all students, staff members and parents. Pray for continued guidance for decision makers in the Olympia Public Schools in finding the Superintendent God would have lead in the challenging days ahead.

Continue to pray that many would begin to gather for pre-school or after-school prayer for public schools. This could begin with Christian staff and parents or students. Pray that we would see an outpouring of prayer and supplication for those in public schools; allowing the Lord direct access to the hearts of the students and staff.

Pray that parents will become more informed and active within the public schools. Pray against strongholds that prevent truth, salt and light from being released.

Private Christian Schools. Pray for private Christian schools to challenge students to study hard and to learn and grow in excellence and in the knowledge of Christ. Pray that they will have wise and discerning instructors who walk in the fear of the Lord. Pray that they will have the resources to expand, improve and grow in all areas. Pray for effective fund-raising efforts.

“God thunders with the voice of His excellency . . . Where were you when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” Job 37:4, 38:7

Worship. Pray that the Excellency of our God and of His Christ will be upon our lips in worshipful praise and exaltation. Though the storm rages around us – let us praise His Name for He alone is mighty to save and holds the earth in the palm of His hands. Let our voices be raised to the One who rose from the dead, conquered death and hell, and lives evermore to make intercession for us. HALLELUJAH!

Arts/Entertainment. Pray that God’s people will be very discerning about the entertainment they allow into their homes and/or attend. Pray that they will find creative alternatives and seek their joy and pleasure in that which pleases the Father. Pray for purification in the area of secular arts/entertainment invited into and allowed into Thurston County where much grievous soul pollution emanates.

ISRAEL: “With Iran attempting to kills Jews all over the planet and more Iranian warships next door to Israel in Syria, it is outrageous to hear world leaders side with Iran over Israel. The world watched in silence as millions of Jews— including many of my relatives —were killed by Hitler. Can you imagine someone firing more than 50 missiles and rockets a day at the United States and us being told not to retaliate? Continue to pray for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and for the protection of Israel. Pray that the Spirit of the Lord will rest upon him and his advisors as the entire world watches them.” From Jerusalem Prayer Team

Esther Call for Back to Life. – Release the Pain—Release the Power. Fifty-four million babies have died since Roe v Wade in 1973, and millions of women have suffered the pain of post-abortion trauma, guilt and shame. But God wants to bring a healing. On April 5&6th, 2012, in the Dallas, TX Convention Center, TheCall will host its first ever all-women’s gathering to pray that God would heal the wounds of the women of America and end abortion. We are believing for God to release the mantle of Esther on an entire generation of women unto the deliverance of the unborn from the death decree of abortion. Esther’s name literally means ‘star’, and so we gather in faith to the Lone Star state, asking for a fresh anointing and authority on women of God to stand for justice and holiness. We are inviting women from the North, South, East and West who are called to be guardians of the unborn. With one voice we are going to beckon heaven, just as Esther did. With prayer and fasting, Esther appealed to the supreme court of heaven and it reversed the supreme court of Haman. God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

“One Nation Under God”

The National Day of Prayer theme for 2012, One Nation Under God, emphasizes a biblical truth found in Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” This verse makes it clear that God cares about and responds to the attitudes and actions of His people.

Accordingly, all are invited to attend a Statewide National Day of Prayer Observance to be held in the State Capitol Rotunda starting at 12 noon on May 3rd. Plan to attend and bring carloads with you. This year’s focus is America’s spiritual history as a nation and our hope for the future. There will be more youth participating than has ever been done in the past, since they are America’s hope as they follow Christ. For more information, contact: praythurston@hotmail.com.

Word for the Week: “No one has beheld God at any time; if we love one another God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
Meditation: As we abide in the love shed in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, Jesus says – “Ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you. By this is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit…just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.” (John 15:7-9)

PRAYER: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, renew, refresh, and revive us!

Pastors. Praise Him for the God-fearing, Christ-exalting, and Word-expounding pastors and lay leaders in Thurston County. (Other regions of the world would feel blessed to have this same access to spiritual food in their locations.) Praise Him for the mercy and ever-living hope we have in Christ. Accordingly, pray that pastors and other church leaders will sense God’s grace and peace being showered upon them in increasing abundance. That they will be free from fear, passions and moral conflicts. Pray for protection for their spouses and families and that they will be filled with the peace and love of Christ.

-“Born anew into an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay [imperishable], unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, who are being guarded by God’s power through your faith until you fully inherit that final salvation that is ready to be revealed for you in the last time. You should be exceedingly glad on this account, though now for a little while you may be distressed by trials and suffer temptations . . . . Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” I Peter 1:4-6,13 Amplified

-“. . . see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently . . . “ I Peter 1:22

Congregations. Pray that congregations will seek the Lord in increasing measure and unity in response to the distressing and godless activities we see all around us. Pray that in the midst of trials and temptations, they can rejoice still, as they find their comfort in Christ and their solace in His Word. Pray for increased understanding of His promises and increased faith to claim them as their own–as their true and lasting inheritance that does not fade away or perish. Pray for an increase in love and caring for one another as well as for the lost and dying.

Churches in Transition. Pray for churches where pastoral leadership is in transition, like New Hope Anglican, that the Lord will guide and direct the decisions being made and changes that impact all ministry areas. Pray that congregations will be unified in support of the “new” while lovingly releasing the “previous”. Pray for Faith Assembly which is in a six-month transition with their senior pastor anticipating retirement in June 2012. Pray also for South Sound Community Church and Pastor Steve Carpenter as they continue to work within a transitional process in finalizing a unifying resting place for their congregation and staff.

Pray for the following churches invested in Pray Thurston. May God add many more fervent intercessors and more churches to their numbers: New Hope Anglican, Chesed v’Shalom, Living Water, Capital Vision Christian, New Life Christian, Westwood Baptist, Flood the Sound, Evergreen Christian Community, Calvary Chapel, Faith Assembly, Emmanuel Bible Fellowship, Oakridge Ministries, First Baptist, Yelm, St James Anglican. Pray also for those praying – yet not on a specific day or hour: Mountain View Nazarene, Lion of Judah, City Life, Lacey Church of God, City Gates Ministry, Blessed Ministry.

Pray for the upcoming training for PT 24/7 Transformation Teams and Prayer Connectors to be held on March 1st, that it will accomplish the purpose for which it is being held, will inspire, inform, encourage and embolden all for and in the work of prayer for our County. Also, that the new transformation teams will be fully functional and in spiritual unity in order to target specific items for prayer in their areas of influence.

FAMILIES/SOCIAL SERVICES/HEALTH –

-“Forasmuch as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold . . . but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot . . . .” I Peter 1:18,19

Families/Children. Pray that families will know they are “precious in His sight” and of great value to Him, since He paid the ultimate price for their salvation. Praise Him for Christian families who are raising and maintaining a godly standard in their spheres of influence. Pray that families who don’t know the Savior will stop resisting and come to Him as the only source of Hope and Light in this world. Pray for the children who are in unloving and emotionally detached homes, that they will know Christ’s love and overcome all obstacles.

Poor/Needy. Continue to uphold the poor who legitimately need assistance with the basic needs of food, clothing, shelter, employment and education. The needs are particularly difficult during the winter months of cold and darkness. Pray, however, that resources given will be appreciated and used to better the long-term conditions of the recipients, so that their lives will be permanently changed.

Food Banks. Praise God for the many families blessed by the diligent work of the volunteers at the food banks in our churches and community. Continue to pray for them as the needs will continue during these winter months. Pray the Lord continues to supply the true needs people have. Pray specifically for Salvation Army, City Gates Ministry, Union Gospel Mission and all churches with pantry ministries.

PRAISE from City Gates Ministries for 2011: Food boxes: 340 delivered. Average cost per delivery is $125. That’s $42,500.00. Thanksgiving meals: 167 delivered. Average cost $50.00. Total of $8,350.00. Christmas meals: 130 delivered. Average cost $50.00. Total of $6,500.00. In food alone, total donations were a generous $57,350.00! When you add all the church food bank donations, there is a lot of food being distributed in this county! In addition from City Gates: A total of 85 families were adopted this Christmas with the help of business and individual donations. Our sponsors supplied gifts and food for adults and children who otherwise would have had a bleak Christmas. This year City Gates Ministries advocated for 226 families who received some kind of financial or tangible assistance including PSE bills, rent, food, furniture, up-graded resumes, referrals and above all prayer and an invitation to know Jesus Christ and get plugged into a church body.

ONGOING: Dementia/ Alzheimer’s – - Praise the Lord for all caregivers who tend to those who suffer from Dementia/Alzheimer’s and other debilitating, long-term illnesses, injuries and diseases. Pray for group homes and other facilities that serve the needs of those who are difficult to care for. Praise God for family members who are proactive and continue to provide hope and care for those fighting degenerative diseases – and also for those involved in caring for those who are infirm due to old age – whether in care facilities, or in their homes. Pray churches will find openings into nursing homes to minister to these often-forgotten ones. Praise God for those who do minister; who visit, help, encourage, provide, pray for and bless those struggling in these situations.

ONGOING Health – Praise: God is in control – pray the budget cuts for health care will not leave the most vulnerable without any resources – especially the poor and children.

   GOVERNMENT -

        STATE GOVERNMENT –

-“The burden of the valley of vision. What ails thee now . . . ? For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity . . . breaking down the walls and of crying to the mountains.” Isaiah 22:1a,5

2012 Legislature–

ESSB 6239 – Same Sex Marriage. This wicked legislation passed and will be sent to the Governor for her to sign into law. Citizens can still demand a referendum by submitting petitions to the Secretary of State’s office with sufficient signatures. The House rejected all proposed amendments, including an amendment which would have required that the measure be sent to the people as a referendum. The House rejected seven amendments in all. It is a day of trouble in our state when the Legislature, and our culture, pulls down God’s basic and sacred institution of marriage, while the galleries are filled with mockers and scoffers rejoicing. The righteous grieve that such an abomination has occurred. Lord, have mercy. Thank Him, however, for those who stood faithful in the Senate and House of Representatives, voting against this legislation, and holding their ground against the pressure to change their minds. Thank Him for every legislator who has worked overtime to oppose the bill. Pray for divine strategies to overturn what the enemy of our souls has meant for destruction for our state. Pray for unity in the church to rise against this action.

“The condition of society is the report card of the church.”- Jackson Senyonga, Uganda Revival.

From the Government Transformation Team: Please pray for both humility and ultimate victory for the legislative members dealing with this issue/bill.

From Family Policy Institute–The Orthodox Christian Churches of Washington State released this statement on the Sanctity of Marriage and Same-Sex Unions: “The Orthodox Christian teaching on marriage and sexuality, firmly grounded in Holy Scripture, 2000 years of church tradition, and canon law, holds that marriage consists in the conjugal union of a man and a woman, and that authentic marriage is blessed by God as a sacrament of the Church. Neither Scripture nor Holy Tradition blesses or sanctions such a union between persons of the same sex . . . . The Orthodox Church cannot and will not bless same-sex unions. Whereas marriage between a man and a woman is a sacred institution ordained by God, homosexual union is not. Like adultery and fornication, homosexual acts are condemned by Scripture (Rom 1:24-27; 1 Corinthians 6:10; 1 Tim 1:10). This being said, however, we must stress that persons with a homosexual orientation are to be cared for with the same mercy and love that is bestowed by our Lord Jesus Christ upon all of humanity. All persons are called by God to grow spiritually and morally toward holiness. As Orthodox Christian clergy in Washington State we speak with one voice in expressing our deep concern over recent developments. And we pray fervently that the traditional form of marriage, as an enduring and committed union only between a man and a woman, will be honored.

-“For He brings down those who dwell on high; the lofty city, He lays low . . . even to the ground; He brings it even to the dust . . . . Yes, in the way of Your judgments, O Lord, have we waited for You; the desire of our soul is to Your Name, and to the remembrance of You.” Isaiah 26:5,

Other Proposed Legislation to pray about:

Mandated Abortion Coverage. Washington legislators have introduced legislation that would require all insurance policies that offer maternity coverage to also cover abortion. This approach is consistent with Washington’s general approach of denying choice to anyone who doesn’t agree with them by taking away options from insurance providers and individuals to provide or purchase insurance plans that do not offer abortion. This is similar to the militantly anti-choice position that the state is currently taking against the Olympia pharmacy that does not want to sell abortion drugs.

Planned Parenthood’s Attack on Pregnancy Centers. For the past two sessions, Planned Parenthood priority legislation has targeted pro-life pregnancy resource centers with unprecedented legal liabilities associated with handling medical records and administering pregnancy tests that do not apply to abortion providers who provide the same services. This legislation has been defeated two years in a row, but it is expected that another effort will be mounted this year.

Expand Department of Early Learning. This bill would force church and family preschools to be HIGHLY regulated with mandates on how privately held organizations must operate their business. One of the requirements is that the program be “free from religious instruction, activities, symbolism, and control or influence.” Currently churches rent space to Co-ops that operate under state funding that must remove all pictures of Jesus and other religious symbols from the Sunday/Sabbath School classrooms when the preschool or daycare is in session. The new regulations for preschools could turn them into secular outcome-based education centers. The controlling of “curriculum” could mandate the teaching of non-biblical ideas such as evolution and the teaching of diversity to include the acceptance of same sex relationships as normal. Pray that we can get an amendment and protection to separate the private preschools and day cares from the government preschools and day cares. Pray that the private, non-government schools can continue to raise young children in the way of the Lord as required by the Bible.

Legalizing marijuana.

Praise Him for each and every born-again Christian who is serving in the Legislature and staff members and pray that their voices of wisdom, righteousness and justice will be heard. Come along side them in on-site prayer, intercession at home or in churches, or attending and/or testifying at hearings. They continue to indicate that they appreciate brief office visits and words of encouragement. Many people have been responding to this call this session and we praise Him for that!

-“O Lord our God, other lords beside You have had dominion over us: but by You only will we make mention of Your Name.” Isaiah 26:12

From Family Policy Institute: Would you like to be able to tell legislators what you think about legislation? Well, you can. Even if you don’t know who represents you, your message will be delivered as long as you provide your name and address. Call right NOW, and leave a message for your legislators. It takes two minutes. So call today–1-800-562-6000–and make your voice heard. If everyone who gets this information makes the call, truth wins.

Godly 2012 Candidates. The Presidential and state elections are less than 40 weeks away—so we must pray with strong intercessions for our nation to return to God. Great spiritual warfare is being fought to shatter the very foundations of this nation and turn it away from God. God’s people must assume their civic responsibilities and participate, as God leads, in this election, praying that the foundations not crumble. Pray for God’s will in selecting candidates who will engage in the many races upcoming in this state—particularly the four statewide positions–the Governor, the Attorney General, the State Auditor, the Secretary of State—which have never been up for re-election at the same time without incumbents. Significant change for good can occur in this state if God’s candidates are elected in these significant positions! Pray for courage and strength for those who have decided and/or who are still deciding about being candidates. That Washington state will elect righteous, godly candidates throughout all levels of government. Pray that Christians will be in unity in this election. Pray for discernment and understanding that we will know who the righteous candidates are. Pray that Christians will register and vote!!

-“Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believes shall not make haste. Judgment also will I lay to the line and righteousness to the plummet . . . and your covenant with death shall be disannulled and your agreement with hell shall not stand . . . .” Isaiah 28:16

Pray especially now for the PT 24/7 Transformation Team in the Government Sphere: Rep. Brad Klippert, Rep. Matt Shea, Senator Val Stevens, Joseph Backholm—Family Policy Institute, Ken and Lynn Stormans—Daniels Prayer Ministry, Bob Higley—Community Family Representative, Rick Forcier—Christian Coalition, and Cathy Colley—Legislative Assistant.

PRAISE from Washington, DC, via a Congressional staff member: “The Congressional Prayer Caucus sponsored the screening of “Courageous,” and it was paid for out of the personal funds of 10 members of Congress (i.e. no tax payer money was involved). My cynical self was anticipating a handful of folks showing up for the screening and at least one group of protestors. I was STUNNED when I arrived in the Jefferson Auditorium in the Library of Congress to see the place packed. There had to have been 300-350 people there. The Capitol Hill Police Chief was present. I spotted one USCP Officer who brought his wife and all 10 of his children (who were better-behaved than a lot of adults I know). From my spot, I counted about 35-40 members of Congress, including one Senator. I was later told that 90 members of Congress had RSVPd, and many stood in the back but left early for previous commitments. As we watched the film, I was even more SHOCKED to hear the gospel CLEARLY proclaimed. No one made any apologies. The member sitting in front of me cried throughout the entire movie. As soon as it was over, there was an immediate standing ovation from the audience. No protesting. Then, to my delight, the writer of “Courageous” and the lead actor were introduced. (They were in the audience the entire time). Another standing ovation for them… I couldn’t believe it. We had three separate standing ovations. I leaned over to my friend Hannah and said, “I’m sorry, am I in the U.S. Capitol or am I at church?”

The Chief of Staff for Congressman Forbes told me that I wouldn’t believe the hours of prayer soaked into this evening. By the time they had reserved the room, opened up tunnels, and paid the Capitol Police overtime, it cost about $5,000 to present it. There was no doubt that God was present in that room and that the message in the movie, “Courageous,” resonated with many people. Eternal things took place.”

COUNTY/CITY/TOWN GOVERNMENTS

- “In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; we have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks. Open the gates that the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in. You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever; for the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.” Isaiah 26:1-4

City/Town Governments in Thurston County: Bucoda, Lacey, Olympia, Rainier, Tenino, Tumwater and Yelm. Pray that righteousness leaders will be over our cities and towns and county. That Truth will penetrate and prevail in the activities of government. Proclaim: The Lord is our strength and song in and over our cities/towns and county.

WASHINGTON STATE GOVERNOR’S PRAYER TEAM (WSGPT) – Join the WSGPT on Tuesdays at 10 AM for a telephonic prayer meeting on behalf of our state government. If interested, contact Susan Johnsen at sejohnsen@comcast.net. She will provide the phone number to call and the access code. You can either call in or join the group at Daniels House who participate from there. All with a heart for prayer are welcome!

LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES/MILITARY –

-“This I recall to mind, therefore I have hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul; therefore, I will hope in Him. The Lord is good unto them who wait for Him, to that soul that seeks Him.” Lamentations 3:21-25

Law Enforcement Officers/State Patrol Troopers and Firefighters. Pray that all our law enforcement officers will have the most current equipment and training they need to be strong and safe. Pray also that they will see that it is God who truly protects them and that He is their only hope. Praise God for each officer who is serving the Lord and continue to pray for supernatural protection and effectiveness in all areas of his/her job. Pray for favor and promotions for them as they show themselves competent, reliable and courageous. Praise Him for the Christian officer who participated in breaking up a drinking party of teenagers recently and then spoke to the teens under arrest about living lives of purpose and meaning, rather than of meaningless, self-centered frivolity.

-“For my father fought for you and adventured his life far, and delivered you . . . .” Judges 9:17

From Pastor Terry Sloan, Military Transformation Team:

The military is preparing to decrease the number of soldiers in the army by 80,000 troops. All branches of service are being told to reduce their total numbers. Please pray for the personnel who find themselves being processed out of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. Pray for jobs, and smooth transitions to civilian life. Pray that they would look to God and not drugs, alcohol or other vices.

Pray for the strength of the military as they are asked to do more with fewer personnel.

The military has already dropped the ban on gays. Please pray for divine direction and wisdom for the leaders in the military as they follow the unrighteous guidance given to them by the President.

Continue to pray for the safety and strength of our troops who are deployed and pending deployments.

Pray that more churches will be open to provide pastoral care to the many who return from war physically and mentally wounded. Continue to pray that Thurston County will be a place of “refuge and peace” for the military families who choose to live here and that churches will reach out to them.

Pray for the military families that they would be strengthened and protected through the after affects of war.

Pray for the wounded returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and other parts of the world that they will find hope in Christ, and that ministries will be able to connect with them in the hospitals and respite centers.

Pray about the high suicide rate among them, and for cleansing of the many sins that we hear about–theft and adultery, etc.–that are weakening their moral fiber.

Thank God for the honorable and the morally strong and pray that they continue on this path.

Jail Ministries. Praise God for those who are serving in jail ministries! Pray that many will be saved as a result of this ministry and that those serving will be greatly encouraged. Pray for reinforcements to come along side them.

Public Schools, Teachers, and Administrators. Declare: Christ is Lord over our schools! Pray for the life of Christ to overcome the spiritual “deadness” prevalent in our public schools. Thank Him for every Christian in the public schools from the janitors and school bus drivers to the office workers, teachers, principals and administrators. Pray for a supernatural turning back to wholesomeness, integrity, and eagerness to learn what is good and beneficial for our country. Pray that cheating will not be honored or ignored, but rather confronted and stopped. Thank Him for His protection over the students, teachers and administrators.

Christian Schools. Praise Him for the option of Christian schools in this county. Declare among them as well that: Christ is Lord over the schools! Pray for them to be stable and strong, offering the best curriculum and the most highly-skilled teachers and that results will be observed by our communities. Let God be glorified as His Word is taught and where honor and integrity are valued. Thank Him for the strong leaders that have come forth from these schools. Pray for revival to break out among the youth.

Colleges/Universities. Pray that churches will reach out to this age group with effective, relevant classes and opportunities for fellowship to bring them to a saving faith in Christ. Given the hopelessness that underlies the philosophies they are being taught, pray that they will seek the Solid Rock of Christ, the sure foundation, and find Him as the true hope and ultimate solution to their emptiness.

Worship. Let our hearts rejoice in the Lord in the midst of this dry and thirsty season. Let us sing of His mercies and of His faithfulness. Worship Him for his holiness and be in awe that there is none like Him. Let all the churches send forth praise and worship to the King of Kings whenever and wherever they gather, that their people will take heart, be encouraged and strengthened in Him. Let songs of praise and adoration arise from deep within Your people, O Lord.

“My heart is breaking as I think of the plight of millions of men, women, and children living in Israel under direct threat of death simply because they are Jews. I have just received a report from a high-level meeting in Israel regarding the terrorist threats that the Jewish state is facing. For some time, I’ve been telling you that Iran has been providing weapons to Hamas and Hezbollah for use against Israel…but the situation is even worse than had previously been believed. According to Israeli military intelligence, today there are more than 200,000 missiles and rockets pointed at the heads of innocent Jewish civilians. That’s a staggering number. When war comes, as it almost surely will, those terrible instruments of death and destruction will rain down from the sky all across Israel. Families will be forced into tiny bomb shelters…or worse, have nowhere safe to hide. All of this is being financed and encouraged by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and the leaders of Iran. Iran is the bitter enemy of both Israel and America – and the rest of the free world as well. Please join me in urgent prayer for them.

These people not only share the prayer burdens from their area of influence for our ongoing prayers, they also bring the answers back into these important areas. Take a moment to praise God for their willingness to keep us informed, encouraged, and moving forward in 2012!
